BT offers three broadband-only FTTC fibre packages: Fibre Essential, Fibre 1, and Fibre 2. Fibre Essential offers 36 Mb/s average download speed at £27.99/month, Fibre 1 provides 50 Mb/s average download speed at £32.99/month, and Fibre 2 provides 74 Mb/s average download speed at £29.99/month. All packages include a 24-month contract, various optional extras, and differing estimated download times for media. The packages below don’t include a landline phone service and offer unlimited monthly usage.
Helpful Hint💡: BT occasionally labels its offers as “fibre 1” in certain postcodes and “full fibre 1” in others. Don’t be confused, this isn’t an error or a separate offer. They are essentially the same package with identical speed capabilities. The only difference is the type of connection – one provides fibre connectivity all the way to your home, while the other switches back to copper as it enters your residence. If Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) is available at your location, we suggest steering clear of these packages and focusing on the higher tier (100, 500 and 900) Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) options instead.

BT’s broadband with a phone package comes at an additional £5 per month. We’ve added that below and adjusted costs so you can see the overall package total. Note that if you have any existing services or personal alarms connected to your home phone, you need to contact your provider to ensure compatibility with Digital Voice technology. All these plans below are tied to a 24-month contract and include unlimited monthly usage. Additionally, each package offers the same set of optional extras for customisations in the broadband only package.

BT Fibre Essential: The Essential package offers an average download speed of 36 Mb/s and an upload speed of 9 Mb/s. This makes it a viable choice for smaller households with moderate internet usage. It offers a Stayfast Guarantee of 18 Mb/s. Despite the lower speeds, you can still stream ultra-HD video on 1-2 devices simultaneously. However, downloading larger files like 4K movies might take about 2 hours. Oddly it’s priced at £31.99/month for a 24-month contract making it more expensive than the BT Fibre 100 (which is 4 times faster). This is likely to be a decoy package and we would advise you to avoid it if you’re a new customer and focus on Fibre 1 or Fibre 100 at comparative prices. Do check this with your BT representative.
BT Fibre 1: With an average download speed of 50 Mb/s and a Stayfast Guarantee of 25 Mb/s, the Fibre 1 package is a step up from the Essential package, suitable for households with more active internet users. Like the Fibre 100 package, it’s priced at £29.99/month for 24 months (again a bit of an odd pricing model), and it maintains the upload speed of 9 Mb/s. Similar to the Essential package, you can stream ultra-HD video on 1-2 devices simultaneously, but with faster download times for larger files.
BT Fibre 2: with an average download speed of 74 Mb/s and an upload speed of 20 Mb/s, BT Fibre 2 is a package that caters to active internet users and larger households. For £35.99 / month on a 24-month contract, it has a speed of 34 Mb/s large enough for streaming ultra-HD videos on 2-3 devices at once. But again this is an oddity in BT’s pricing. We strongly suggest looking at the other BT packages for comparatively better speeds at lower prices.

It guarantees a minimum speed of 100 Mb/s, perfect for households with multiple users streaming ultra-HD videos, gaming, or working from home simultaneously. With the ability to download a 4K movie in about 30 minutes, it offers excellent value for its price.
BT Full Fibre 500: Providing an average download speed of 500 Mb/s and upload speed of 73 Mb/s, Full Fibre 500 is ideal for large households or home offices with heavy internet usage. At £32.99/month for a 24-month contract, it guarantees a minimum speed of 425 Mb/s. This package reduces the download time for 4K movies to about 7 minutes and supports streaming ultra-HD videos on more than 5 devices at once.
BT Full Fibre 900: As the premium package at £40.99/month on a 24-month contract, Full Fibre 900 boasts an average download speed of 900 Mb/s and an upload speed of 110 Mb/s. It guarantees a minimum speed of 700 Mb/s.
